We are Caroline Maskill and Ian Hodges – the owners and directors of HealthSearch Ltd. Together we work on all HealthSearch projects.
With degrees in the social and health sciences, and more than 25 years experience of working as professional researchers in government and as independent consultants, we are well-equipped to investigate the latest research on most health-related topics.
Caroline has degrees in medicine and social sciences, including training in demography and epidemiology. Before starting HealthSearch in 1997, she worked in research roles for the Tauranga Hospital Board, Ministry of Health and the University of Auckland. Throughout her career Caroline has authored or co-authored over 80 reports and papers on a wide range of health and disability issues.
Before teaming up with Caroline to form HealthSearch, Ian was a senior researcher with the Ministry of Health. He has a PhD in social anthropology from Otago University and has worked on numerous health and disability research projects, producing nearly 90 reports and other publications on a variety of subjects.
In conjunction with University of Auckland’s Prof. David Thomas, he has written Designing and Managing Your Research Project: Core Skills for Social and Health Research, a guidebook for new and emerging researchers, published by Sage UK.
